THE LODGE AT TORREY PINES NAMES DAN FULLEN AS GENERAL MANAGER
LA JOLLA, CALIF. (May 1, 2001) - Evans Hotels has announced the appointment
of Dan Fullen as General Manager of The Lodge at Torrey Pines, a new luxury
hotel, golf resort and spa scheduled to open in La Jolla, Calif., in April
2002. Fullen will oversee all operations at the 170-room property, its
two gourmet restaurants, full-service spa and comprehensive meeting and
banquet facilities.
"We're honored to have Dan at the helm of The Lodge at Torrey Pines,"
said William L. Evans, Executive Vice President and Managing Director
at Evans Hotels, owner of The Lodge at Torrey Pines and four other area
properties. "His expertise and exceptional qualifications will be
vital as we usher in this new concept of luxury resort, where the old
blends with the ultra-modern to produce a seamless experience of warmth
and comfort."
Mr. Fullen brings more than 25 years of experience from some of the West
Coast's most notable luxury properties. Previously, he spent six years
as General Manager at Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego, Calif., another
Evans Hotels property. He first joined the Evans Hotels family in 1993
as Corporate Food & Beverage Director for Evans Hotels. His prior
experience includes tenures as Food & Beverage Director at The Sorrento
Hotel in Seattle, Wash., Food & Beverage Director at The Hotel Bel
Air in Los Angeles, Calif., and Food & Beverage Manager at The Remington
on Post Oak Park in Houston and The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas.
Mr. Fullen completed his undergraduate education at the University of
Cincinnati and earned his M.P.S. from Cornell University's School of Hotel
Administration.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of this exciting new resort, which will
certainly be the jewel in the crown of Evans Hotels," said Mr. Fullen.
"Our objective is to distinguish The Lodge at Torrey Pines from other
resorts by offering hotel guests an unsurpassed sense of luxury, and an
unparalleled array of amenities, backed by our proximity to the world-famous
Torrey Pines Golf Course and Torrey Pines State Reserve, two of La Jolla's
most treasured attractions."
Scheduled to open in April 2002, The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a tribute
to the California Craftsman Movement and is modeled after Greene and Greene's
famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, Calif., two of the finest
examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. The Lodge will feature
175 spacious guest rooms and suites, more than 13,000 square feet of meeting
and banquet space, a 9,500 square-foot full-service spa and two restaurants,
including a signature dining room serving contemporary California cuisine.
The Lodge is adjacent to the Torrey Pines Golf Course and is walking distance
of Torrey Pines State Reserve.
